We arrived in Edinburgh, Scotland on Tuesday, May 1 and drove to Inverness. On Wednesday, May 2 we drove to the Battlefield of Culloden. Next, we drove to Loch Ness and hired a boat to take us for a ride on the Loch, the captain was the same infamous captain that took pictures and claimed he saw Nessie. He had pictures on his boat. We talked to him and explored the large, cold, deep lake for awhile and then landed, took some pictues with the captain and then went to explore Uruqahart Castle, the building atop the peak over Loch Ness. Thursday, May 3, we drove to the Isle of Skye and explored its local castle passing the Five Sisters Mountains on the way. For Friday, May 4, we drove to Fort George and Cawdor Castle and back to the Inverness Castle. The next day, Saturday, May 5, we continued on to Stirling Castle and later the Monument to William Wallace. Finally, for Scotland at least, we circled back to Edinburgh and its castle and then on to London staying overnight at a terrible bed and breakfast. The room we stayed in, we were told, had been occupied by guests who had not paid rent, maybe it was in terrible shape because of that, we did not know. |
London, England |
We explored Buckingham Palace, the Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London on Tuesday, May 8. To wind down the trip we flew back to Houston, Texas on Wednesday, May 9. |
